About Zephyr’s Backyard

Puppy-focused training in Tallahassee

Zephyr's Backyard is a puppy and dog training business in Tallahassee run by Maddie, who writes that she has over a decade of experience in the animal industry with a background in veterinary medicine, animal training and professional animal care. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and Animal Behavior College, a Fear Free Certified Professional, a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and an AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy Evaluator.

Approach

Training uses positive reinforcement and fear-free methods grounded in behavioral science, aiming for confident, curious dogs and a stress-free learning environment.

Programs

The 6-week Puppy Preschool works on confidence around new people, dogs and places, settling and focus, stress-free grooming and vet visits, and safe play. Group training classes run from early foundations to advanced manners, private lessons address a dog's specific challenges, and behavior and enrichment workshops cover topics such as canine enrichment, cooperative care and introducing new family members.

What owners say

Client Jeff Martin wrote that Maddie helped the whole family, not just their puppy Shaggy, and that her session reports are super detailed and helpful.
