About Patriot K9 Training & Services

What they do

Patriot K9 Training & Services runs four published lines out of Griffin: Puppy Development, Basic to Advanced Obedience, Protection, and Procurement – sourcing specialty dogs for clients. Work starts from a scheduled evaluation.

Puppy Development

The site calls this the equivalent of Pre-K. Strengths, weaknesses and interests are assessed first, then the curriculum builds verbal and leash skills: yes, no, good, the dog's name, recall, crate, place, off, sit and walk. Their AKC evaluator can tell you whether the puppy qualifies for the STAR Puppy Certificate at the end of the program.

Obedience

The obedience program teaches place, sit, down, stay, heel, loose leash walking, recall, off, wait and crate, practiced across varied environments and increasing levels of distraction, with obedience games used to work on impulse control.

Protection

Their stated position is that a solid and dependable protection dog is confident, well adjusted, balanced and clear-headed, and not outwardly aggressive – so selection matters as much as training, and they will guide the choice of dog as well as the training.
