About Columbia Canine Sports Center
Columbia Canine Sports Center is a training and event facility at 4506 I-70 Drive SE, on the east side of Columbia. Its own home page places it halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis, which is also why several of Missouri's dog clubs hold events there.
Classes
The manners side of the schedule covers AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Advanced Puppy and Pet Manners. The sport side is unusually broad for a city this size: agility, competition obedience, rally obedience, nose work and scent work, and barn hunt. Weekend drop-in sessions add Puppy Explorers, conformation handling, canine games and cooperative care, and the center periodically runs workshops on single topics such as crate training or specific behavior issues, plus practices for barn hunt, earth dog, nose work, rally, competition obedience and FastCAT.
Schedule and cost
Regular classes meet for 50 minutes a week over six weeks. A six-week session is $190, with a 10 percent discount for students and for seniors over 65, which brings it to $171. Take three or more classes and the six-week building membership is free; otherwise it is $60 for the session. Drop-in attendance and punch cards are available for some classes when the instructor allows, which suits owners whose schedules are irregular.
Enrolling
New students attend an orientation without their dogs, held over Zoom on the Thursday before a session starts and lasting around 30 to 45 minutes. Vaccination records go to the center before or at the first class. Refunds are limited to the first week, with the option to exchange for a different class or convert the fee into 120 minutes of private instruction; illness or injury is handled case by case. The center does not offer makeups for an individual missed class, but reschedules if it has to cancel.
Access note
The center posts an access warning worth reading before a first visit: from March 23, 2026, the approach from the I-70 and Highway 63 side of I-70 Drive SE is closed for the Interstate 70 upgrade, expected to last more than ten months. Access from I-70 east and west is open via the Exit 131 bridge.
Who it’s best for
Best for owners who want group classes on a published calendar, and for anyone moving from pet manners into dog sports without changing venues.
