About Dog Daze Playcare

Dog Daze Playcare is a Columbia daycare and boarding facility that also runs a substantial training program, and unusually for this market it publishes its training prices in full.

Training options and prices

Private lessons are $55 for a half hour and $110 for a full hour, covering basic obedience and specific behavior problems, with the trainer teaching the owner as well as working the dog. A four-week Puppy Head Start is $1,500 and includes three days of playcare a week with an hour of training a day. Three-week and four-week Daycare and Train packages run $1,725 and $2,300, with four days of playcare a week. A three-week Board and Train, with seven nights a week of boarding and four hours of training spread through each week, is $2,350. A three-week Boot Camp at $1,990 boards the dog during the week and sends it home at weekends.

How the training is reinforced

Every package description says the same two things: staff keep the training up through the day outside the formal sessions, and the owner meets weekly to review what has been taught so it can be reinforced at home. The facility names the problems it takes on as separation anxiety, leash walking, crate training and house training, along with jumping up and pulling, and says it teaches obedience of all levels up to competition standard.

Specialist trainers

The training page notes that some of its trainers work with retrievers and hunting dogs and with sheep herding and trialing, with rates quoted case by case. That is a niche few general facilities cover.

The facility and the people

The about page introduces the owner, Becky Henson, describing over 28 years working with dogs as a breeder, handler and groomer, and time spent helping open and then run one of the first dog daycares in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her stated interests are sheep herding and collies. The dog care side offers climate-controlled play areas, a large turf exercise area, group playtime and enrichment, with package discounts for regular guests.

Who it’s best for

Best for owners who want training and day care in one place, and for anyone who wants to know the price before making the call.
