About Argot Animal Training LLC
Argot Animal Training is a force-free dog training business based in Columbia. Its own about page dates the business to 2022 and says services began in Columbia and the wider mid-Missouri region in 2024, after the owner relocated. The 417 phone number on the site is a legacy of that move rather than an out-of-area operator.
Who it is for
Rather than a single beginner class, the business organizes itself around the problem an owner actually has. It publishes separate pages for reactive dogs that bark, growl or lunge at people or other dogs; for fearful dogs that startle, shake, cower or shut down, including dogs that bark, howl or become destructive when left alone; for over-excited and distracted dogs that cannot settle; for puppies; and for senior dogs whose needs are changing, where the site suggests working alongside the dog's veterinarian.
Formats
There are four ways to work with the trainer. In-home private lessons keep the dog in a familiar environment where distractions can be controlled. Virtual coaching runs over a video call with live demonstrations. Semi-private lessons put two or three existing clients together in a real-world location to practice around genuine distractions, with no unfamiliar dogs in the group. Day training has the trainer come out one to three times a week to work the dog directly, followed by lessons that hand the skills over to the family.
How the work is structured
Every private client starts with a 60-minute onboarding lesson that covers the owner's concerns, the dog's behavior and history, the household's lifestyle, and the first management and training steps. An intake form is completed beforehand. After that session the owner receives written consult notes, recommended next steps and any handouts or videos the trainer thinks will help in the gap. The site says most clients are recommended four or more follow-up sessions, planned at the consult and adjusted as goals move.
Background
The about page names the owner as Cade Canfield and lists a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology from Missouri State University, the Family Dog Mediator certification course with Kim Brophey, and Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Foundations, alongside volunteer training work with the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri since 2018.
