About Calm Nature Dog Training

What they offer

Calm Nature Dog Training describes itself as a non-aversive dog behavior specialist for Columbia, Lexington and Irmo, working with families across Greater Columbia and Chapin. Its services include a board-and-train program, in-home dog training and a puppy training program, with personalized training in your home, your yard and your neighborhood.

Approach

The About page says the training is founded on wildlife biology and exotic animal behavior expertise and uses gentle, relationship-based methods – never physical force or e-collars, and no reliance on treat bribes – aiming for genuine respect and clear communication. The site argues that most behavior problems happen in your living room, at your front door and on your walks, so that is where it trains, with the whole family involved.

Good to know

The site frames problems such as leash pulling, reactivity and jumping on guests as a breakdown in communication rather than a bad dog.
