About Von Klein Stein Working Dogs

Police K9 specialists

Von Klein Stein Working Dogs (VKSWD) is a full-service police K9 kennel in Sherwood that describes itself as owned and operated by veterans, with over 30 years of experience. It specializes in police K9s and says it has served departments all over the United States, from starting new K9 units to advancing current ones. Its dogs are imported from kennels in Europe, hand selected and tested for workability and temperament before training begins. Breeds listed include Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, German Shorthaired Pointers and Labradors.

Handler courses

The Basic Handler course is designed for new K9 handlers and covers case law, documentation, K9 health, scent detection, tracking and handler protection, commonly over two weeks with 80+ hours of instruction. A one-week refresher course gives departments an outside evaluation of a K9 team, and the Advanced Handler course is a scenario-based, hands-on program for experienced handlers. VKSWD also teaches seminars for handlers.

Who it serves

This is a working-dog operation aimed at law enforcement agencies and K9 handlers rather than family pet obedience.
