Board and train programs
TOP DOG of New Orleans, which operates as Top Dog Training Academy, serves New Orleans, Hammond and Kentwood. Its programs include puppy preschool, house manners, basic and advanced obedience, emotional support and service dog training, and behavior rehab, plus private lessons. Puppy Preschool is a board and train for puppies 3 to 5 months old covering name recognition, come, sit, down, place and leash manners. Basic or Advanced Obedience runs 1 to 3 weeks for dogs 6 months and older, and the 3-Week Advanced Board & Train, described as its most popular, adds real-world reliability, impulse control and off-leash responsiveness. Service Dog Development builds advanced obedience, public access manners and customized tasks. Behavior Rehab runs 3 to 6 weeks for anxiety, leash reactivity and dog or human aggression. The advanced, service dog and behavior programs include lifetime trainer support.
The team
The team is made up mainly of former animal shelter volunteers, vet techs and veteran dog trainers. Overnight boarding sleepovers are reserved for dogs the academy has already trained, and pet transport is also offered.
