About Northshore Canine Academy

Training from a family home

Northshore Canine Academy is a Slidell dog training business that says it has been voted the region's best dog trainer every year since opening in 2017. It is U.S.M.C. veteran-owned, and its team is lead trainers and behavioral specialists James and Amber Arnold, with trainers Katelyn and Raymond Thomas. James and Amber completed Canine Psychology, Emotion, and Cognition studies at Duke University and are Professional Members of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and the trainers cite over 30 years of combined experience.

Programs

Boarded training takes place in the team's family home, where staff live on-site and use everyday family life to teach manners that transfer to the owner's home. Other programs include day training, private lessons and virtual private lessons. Dogs that finish a program can return for VIP boarding and Stay and Play, a structured alumni daycare. The philosophy is simple: "we train dogs, we educate people," with techniques adapted to each dog.
