About Superstar Service Dogs, LLC

Service dog training in Mount Vernon

Superstar Service Dogs is based at 2451 Business 30 SW in Mount Vernon and trains service dogs, guide dogs and therapy dogs, alongside puppy training, obedience and help with trouble behaviors. Its mission is to provide comfort, confidence and independence through service dogs and to make them accessible and affordable.

How it works

The business highlights having no wait list, training for multiple disabilities, training a client's own dog to become a service dog, and using local breeders for clients starting from scratch. It prefers service dogs and owners to live and work together to build their bond, while guide dogs live and train on site. Training uses positive reinforcement and Pavlovian theory: every dog starts with basic skills and socialization, which then grow into more complex service tasks. For example, a "touch" cue that first helps with fear of new objects later becomes an "alert" telling the owner to act. Its services also include gluten detection.

What to ask

Ask whether your dog is suited to service work, how long training takes and about costs.
