About Pawsitive Paws Academy

Training, daycare and boarding in Cedar Rapids

Pawsitive Paws Academy is a locally owned facility at 137 30th St Dr SE in Cedar Rapids offering training, daycare, boarding and grooming in one place. It describes more than 17 years of pet services, growing from class and private training in manners, behavior and agility into a full-service facility. Its trainers are credited with more than 60 years of combined experience and taught for the Kirkwood Continuing Education Canine Program before starting the academy. They are members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

Method

The academy uses a positive, reward-based system to help dogs choose appropriate behaviors, with an early focus on helping dogs that struggle with fear, anxiety and other challenging behaviors.

Classes and private training

Group classes for puppies and adult dogs teach basic skills and manners around distractions, and the class range extends to agility and flyball. The team's experience also spans rally obedience, pet therapy, barn hunt and dock diving. Individualized private training is available at the facility or in the home, from basic obedience to behavior management, with rates depending on needs and location. Shot records are required for all services.
