About Kearney Dog Training LLC

One-on-one in-home training in Cedar Rapids

Kearney Dog Training offers one-on-one, in-home dog obedience training in the Cedar Rapids area. Owner and lead trainer Logan Kearney graduated from Starmark Academy, a dog training trade school, as a Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist, after about eight months working at a doggy daycare. He is also certified in dog CPR.

Method

The business describes its approach as balanced training, including both positive reinforcement and corrective training.

How training works

Every program starts with a required free in-home consultation of about an hour, after which a training plan is tailored to the dog. The number of sessions varies by dog, and every session lasts an hour. Basic obedience covers sit, down, place, leave it, door manners, recall, heel, crate training and out (dropping what is in the mouth). Training can also target specific behaviors such as biting, jumping and barking. Discounts apply to select training packages.

What to ask

Ask about package pricing and how many sessions your dog is likely to need.
