Dog sports and manners in Layton

Versa Dog Sports is a training facility at 1473 N 1000 E in Layton, with new classes posted every two to three weeks. Its agility track runs from Foundations through Beginning and Intermediate levels and on to handling skills for competition at the highest level.

Classes

Obedience PLUS Manners classes for puppies and adults go beyond commands to work on jumping, counter surfing, door dashing, mouthing, resource guarding, crate training, unnecessary barking and appropriate play. Introduction to Nose Work teaches scent searching with positive reinforcement for dogs that have finished a basic manners or puppy class. Advanced obedience covers Obedience Elevated, Rally and Canine Good Citizen options including CGC Community and CGC Urban. An indoor/outdoor playschool combines play and socialization with two private training lessons per session and ongoing manners work. The facility also offers ring rental.

The team

Owner and lead trainer Kristin Sittner has qualified and competed in multiple national agility and herding competitions with her border collies and a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. Trainer Regan holds an Animal Science degree and has trialed in agility, rally, herding and barn hunt. Trainer Kati Barker teaches Beginning Agility and is a Certified Canine Massage Therapist who offers canine massages. Michelle and Marietta round out the team.
