About A Dog’s Journey

Science-based training in Layton

A Dog's Journey is a Layton dog training business that describes itself as improving pets' lives since 1989. It frames training as a journey of understanding, learning and building a positive relationship, and uses positive methods grounded in canine behavioral science.

Programs

The business specializes in early puppy development to help prevent later behavior problems, covering socialization, groomer and vet readiness, fear periods, separation struggles, child and puppy interaction rules and basic manners, through private lessons at home or day school. Manners classes for dogs over 4 months run 8 weeks in Davis County and cover sit, down, stay, mat work, loose leash walking, focused heeling, recall, leave it and polite greetings. Scent detection is open to food-motivated dogs 4 months and older, rally suits graduates of an advanced manners class, and agility lessons teach jumping, distance, weaves and handling for dogs that can work off leash. Day training and long-line dog walking in Layton and Kaysville are also offered, along with CGC, Trick Dog and Service Dog Public Access evaluations by appointment and mini workshops.
