About Dogs At Play
Daycare with manners built in
Dogs at Play is a dog daycare in Eugene that opened in 2003 and describes itself as the first dog daycare in Eugene. The facility has 3,000 square feet of rubber flooring inside and a large fenced outdoor play area.
Training
During daycare hours the focus is basic house manners: staff reinforce good manners and obedience all day, expecting dogs to sit when asked, come when called and wait before jumping onto a lap or racing through a door. After hours, Dogs at Play runs agility classes. Shy or fearful dogs can build confidence and learn to play appropriately. All new dogs are interviewed before joining, and vaccination, spay/neuter and other requirements apply.
The people
Leah Brown, a former veterinary technician and pet sitter, started the business in 2003, is the agility instructor and says she is there every day with the dogs. Dogs are supervised by four or five wranglers in the morning and at least two in the afternoon.
What to ask
