About Training Spot
Positive training on Lawrence Street
Training Spot is a dog training school at 90 Lawrence Street in Eugene, serving Eugene and Springfield. It was founded by Oregon natives Tera Dschaak-James and Jen Biglan, and its certified trainers teach science-based, positive reinforcement skills.
Classes and private help
Group classes follow a dog's age: Puppy Preschool for puppies 8-13 weeks, Puppy Kindergarten for 14 weeks to 6 months, and Teen Spirit for dogs 6 months and older. There are also a therapy track, drop-in classes and a Sniff Club. Private lessons offer one-on-one coaching, including in-home sessions, and behavior consultations build plans for dogs that lunge, bark, or show fear or aggression. A free 15-minute call is offered to new clients.
The trainers
Jen Biglan is credited with 20+ years of work with dogs and lists Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Family Dog Mediator and Karen Pryor Academy faculty among her qualifications. Tera Dschaak-James holds the KPA CTP and CPDT-KA credentials and also offers canine acupressure and massage. The rest of the team are Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partners.
What owners say
One student wrote: "Your class was so welcoming, your instructions so clear, your encouragement so genuine and your love of dogs so evident that I felt so happy to be a part of it."
