Adventure-based training from Beaverton

Wild Pup Adventures is a woman-led small business based in Beaverton offering multi-sport dog adventures, in-home boarding and off-leash training across the Portland metro area. Owner Toby Joy Zelt established it in 2016 and works directly with every dog. She is a recertified Wilderness First Responder through NOLS and is certified in Pet CPR, First Aid, Dog Psychology and Reiki for animals.

PupScouts Academy

The off-leash training program works in a small, guided pack led by Toby and canine pack leader Raven. Dogs learn off-leash recall through positive reinforcement and real-world practice, with training collar work if a particular dog needs it, plus safety commands such as stop, leave it and wait for me, spatial awareness on trails, vehicle etiquette, walking behind, obstacle confidence, seasonal swimming and multi-sport skills like running beside a bike or swimming next to a kayak. PupScouts graduates get their first week of Adventure Club free.

Method

Toby calls her approach Learner-Centered Dog Training, reading each dog's body language to choose the feedback that works for that dog. Every dog passes a health, behavioral and fitness assessment before joining, and owners get daily updates, photos and video summaries.
