About Balanced Tails Montana
A trainer shaped by her own dog
Balanced Tails Montana is a dog training business in Bigfork run by Amanda Rehmer. She writes that her first German Shepherd puppy, which she got in 2018, was anxious, nippy and mouthy, pulled on the leash and lacked focus, and that the trainer who helped her changed her life so much that she decided to become a professional dog trainer herself. She says she has been training dogs professionally for 6 years, and that helping clients through the good and the bad is part of the job.
Programs
The beginners obedience course covers the basics, starting with on-leash training and finishing with an off-leash course, and teaches commands such as sit, down, stay, heel, come and spot. A behavior modification course works on aggression, fear, reactivity and other unwanted behaviors. Specialty training includes scent work, retrieval training, group retrieval classes, paddle board classes, equine/canine classes, agility/utility, therapy dog work and service dog training. Entry to specialty work depends on completing the beginners obedience course and on the dog's temperament. New clients can book a free evaluation.
