About Prairie Dog Daycare, Obedience Training, Grooming and Boarding
What they offer
Prairie Dog is a dog daycare, boarding, grooming and obedience training business on 51st Avenue South in Fargo. Its training department is led by a balanced dog trainer with a degree in animal science who has been training since 2018 and is a member of the IACP.
Training programs
Training programs are day training: dogs are dropped off in the morning and picked up in the late afternoon, and owners get private go-home lessons during the program so they can continue at home. New clients start with a short evaluation. A five-day puppy program for puppies three to six months introduces socialization, kennel training, leash work, sit, down and come. An on-leash program for dogs six months and older builds sit and down with stays, heel, place and come, and also helps with jumping, leash pulling, overexcitement and mild reactivity. Graduates can move on to an off-leash program that introduces the e-collar and transitions those commands off leash. Custom day training focuses on one to three skills.
Classes and private lessons
Weekly one-hour private lessons teach owners to train at home. Graduates can join drop-in group classes, refresher days, public field-trip training days and a small Canine Good Citizen class. The facility says its programs are not suited to severe aggression or severe anxiety cases.
