About Elevate Canine Academy
What they offer
Elevate Canine Academy is a dog training academy with locations in Fargo and Bismarck, including a Fargo facility on 13th Avenue South. Besides obedience training, the academy says it regularly works with dogs that are reactive, aggressive or struggling with anxiety, and it has been working with dogs and their owners since 2019.
Day training
Its main programs are two-week and three-week day training: the dog comes to the facility each weekday and goes home at night. The trainers set up scenarios around each dog's triggers, work on jumping, barking, reactivity and aggression, and teach walking nicely, sit, down, stay, place, leave it and staying neutral in busy places, with outings to stores and other public places as training progresses. Owners get a daily rundown, homework and an evening email, often with video, plus a one-on-one session to practice under guidance. The three-week program adds time for proofing and for harder cases such as resource guarding, aggression and anxiety.
Other options
A general obedience program of four weekly one-on-one sessions works as train-the-trainer for dogs at least 17 weeks old, and a free class helps people who rescued a dog in the last three months get started. Sport programs cover agility and tricks, advanced obedience, scent detection, tracking and grip foundations, and there is a dog gym and online training.
Method
The academy describes its training as balanced, and its day training and general obedience programs include a prong collar and an e-collar, with owners shown how to use them.
