About Piscataqua Obedience Club
What they offer
Piscataqua Obedience Club is a non-profit dog training club based in Berwick that has been running since 1973. It trains in a building on Coffin Lane that it shares with a feed store, and welcomes purebreds, mixed breeds, rescues, puppies and seniors to its classes.
Classes
The club offers both family dog and competition classes, most of them 55 minutes long and run in five-week sessions. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is for puppies from 8 weeks to 7 months and works on socialization, down, sit, stand, loose-leash walking and coming when called. Manners helps older dogs with recall, leash walking and focus around distractions, and a Canine Good Citizen class practices the ten test items. Competition classes include CDSP obedience and nosework, and members get reduced class fees.
Approach
The club's certified instructors use motivational training techniques that emphasize kind, positive treatment. Enrollment is by email, and schedule changes are posted on the club's Facebook page.
