About Canine Cadre
Training and behavior work in Wallingford
Canine Cadre is a dog training and behavior modification organization in Wallingford, with a second location in Northford, that describes itself as a 46-year-old organization. Owner and canine behavior expert Lenny Paquette leads a team that includes canine behaviorists Erich Paquette and Kathy Stephens and distraction class instructor Catherine Maynard. Its philosophy is that the owner's relationship is the most important training tool, so owners train their own dogs in private sessions built on obedience, engagement and play.
Programs
The Puppy Head Start Program, which it calls one of the first of its kind in Connecticut, covers early imprinting and socialization for puppies and their owners. Other programs include canine obedience, behavior modification combined with training in drive, a Canine Distraction Class that proofs training under intense distractions, Canine Good Citizen classes and in-depth consultations for serious or aggressive cases. Specialized training covers hearing ear dogs, therapy and service dogs, search and rescue, IGP/Schutzhund, narcotics detection and police patrol dogs, and online sessions are available.
Getting started
A free evaluation of 15-30 minutes sets up a program, while a paid consultation of 1 to 2 hours handles more serious situations.
