About Sandy Paws Dog Training

Positive training in Guilford

Sandy Paws Positive Dog Training is a Guilford training business founded and owned by Bryony Aviles, its head trainer. Its system is based on positive reinforcement and holds that dogs learn best by being shown the expected behavior and reinforced for it, without reprimands or physical force. The approach is described as veterinarian-recommended and family-friendly, lively and interactive, meeting human and canine learners where they are.

The trainer

Bryony is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), an honors graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy and a mentor trainer for the CATCH Canine Trainers Academy. She is a professional member of the APDT and a supporting member of the IAABC, and she is educated in the Family Paws Parent Education and The Family Dog programs, both focused on families with dogs and children. She calls herself a "recovering attorney" and has volunteered many hours with local and state rescues and shelters.

Services

Sandy Paws offers puppy training, group classes and a Kids and Dogs program, and describes itself as a go-to trainer for families with kids and dogs, with expertise in dog play and body language.
