About Obedience Dog Training Club
A volunteer training club since 1946
The Obedience Dog Training Club of Waterbury, Inc. is a dog training club now located at 11 Robinson Lane in Oxford. Founded in 1946 and run entirely by volunteers, it trains dogs and their handlers both for fun and for competition, and has helped thousands of owners train either a better behaved pet or a highly trained obedience competitor.
Classes
For pet dogs there is a Puppy class and a Beginner Obedience class (Family Manners) that uses positive reinforcement to teach basic commands and address common household problems. The 6 week Manners & More class prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, which is given at the end of the course. The club also provides all phases of competition training for AKC and Companion Dog Sports Program events, from beginner through Utility, and its instructors compete in obedience, field, rally and agility.
Membership
Members receive invitations to members-only events, early notice of trials and seminars, and discounts on select classes.
What to ask
Ask the class instructor about upcoming class dates and fees.
