About K-9 University

What they offer

K-9 University is a dog training school on Shoppers Lane in Covina that combines positive reinforcement with balanced training. Its programs include basic obedience, reactivity training, socialization, AKC courses and service dog training, and it also runs a daycare. A free phone consultation is the first step.

Puppy 101

Puppy 101 is a six-week foundation course held on Saturdays in Covina for puppies 10 to 16 weeks old with at least two sets of vaccinations. It covers basic obedience, heel foundations, place work and guided socialization and confidence building.

Service dog training

The service dog program is for people with disabilities who are building a service dog team. It covers reliable obedience, public access skills and task training matched to the handler's needs, and each plan is built individually after a consultation.

Classes beyond the basics

A six-week Basic Obedience group class for dogs four months and older covers heel foundations, loose-leash walking, place work and impulse control, and private sessions are available instead. A Socialization group class works on calm, neutral behavior around other dogs and people. AKC courses prepare dogs for the Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine and Urban CGC evaluations, and an Off-Leash Training program, for dogs with basic obedience, builds recall and reliable response in fields, parks and open spaces. Payment options include a la carte sessions, program packages and subscriptions.
