Island Dog Training was built by a trainer who grew up on Martha's Vineyard and worked under experienced professionals before moving home. There is no facility: lessons take place wherever the issues happen, in the home, on walks or out in public across the Vineyard, and the aim is a lasting relationship through the dog's whole life.

Programs

Private lessons are the usual starting point. Group classes run as a series of five obedience classes, and a puppy program of eight lessons covers raising a puppy, including proper socialization. An off-leash program mixes day training and private lessons to improve recall, and a leash walking program is designed for strong pullers and dogs that are reactive on leash.
