In-home training in Austin

Koinonia Dogs offers in-home dog and puppy training to owners in Austin, Cedar Park, Round Rock and Pflugerville. Leighann Hurley founded Koinonia Dogs in 2014 and became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer in 2019, and she describes herself as the doggy problem solver behind the business. Her goal is a dog that is polite with guests, pleasant on walks, calm when you're busy and well-behaved around distractions.

Approach and services

Koinonia's training rests on three values: prevention, starting with changes to the environment and the owner's habits; positive reinforcement, with reward-based techniques for every dog, including those with behavior problems; and attention to a dog's emotional well-being as well as its behavior. Services include puppy training, basic obedience and behavior problems, a potty training consultation, and a Stay & Train option for owners who travel. Live-in dog sitting is offered separately.
