Best Friends Training is a dog training business in Jonestown that works with dogs across the Austin area. It offers motivational obedience training for puppies and dogs of all ages, through group classes, private lessons at its location and private lessons in the owner's home. Its goal is a program that matches a family's needs and lifestyle to the dog's needs and style of learning, and it believes owners owe dogs safety, peace of mind, structure and a way to communicate.

The trainer

Shannon McCauley moved to Austin in 1996, worked in the high tech industry for seven years and graduated from Triple Crown Academy for Professional Dog Trainers in 2003, when she started Best Friends Training. Her training there covered all levels of obedience, agility, behavior modification including aggression and anxiety, tracking, search and rescue, police protection, narcotic dog training and hunting training. She is a member of the IACP and the APDT, works with local rescues and shelters to help adoptions succeed, and continues her education through professional seminars.
