About Lone Star Dog Training and Care

Family-owned training in the Austin area

Lone Star Dog Training and Care is a family-owned dog training business serving Round Rock and the Austin area. Owner and trainer Sergey Astafyev, who describes himself as a dog trainer and cynologist, cites 15+ years of experience and says he has trained over 200 breeds. His background includes breeding and training Caucasian Shepherd dogs under his own kennel name.

Method

Sergey says his training methods are based on positive reinforcement, using praise and treats rather than punishment, with an individualized program for each dog and education for the owner. Areas of focus include obedience, behavior training, aggression, anxiety, socialization and shelter dogs with trust issues.

Services

Options include an introductory meet-and-greet lesson, a private lesson package of 5 private lessons plus 1 social training session, and boarding and training in which the dog stays cage-free in the trainer's home and learns house manners and commands. An online lesson and consultation by video call costs $99, a video masterclass covers essential commands, and a 17-page nutrition and care guide sells for $12.99.
