Pet resort with a training academy

The Palms Pet Resort & Spa is a luxury boarding resort at 12410 Bandera Road in Helotes, serving San Antonio and communities throughout the Texas Hill Country. It is owned and directed by Dr. James R. Peterson, DVM, who also owns Hill Country Animal Hospital, and it is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All staff are PCSA certified pet care technicians.

The Palms Academy

Training runs through The Palms Academy, which offers group classes, private lessons and board and train options in a comfortable indoor facility, taught by experienced and certified trainers. Classes range from puppy classes that introduce social skills to basic manners, obedience training, scent work, tricks and leash training. The stated training goal is to enhance a dog's quality of life and strengthen the relationship between dog and owner.

Other services

The resort also runs The Palms Salon for grooming, Doggie PlayCare with a 1,500-square-foot indoor playroom and an 8,000-square-foot outdoor play yard, and suites for dogs and cats. Reception hours are Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday 3 to 5 p.m. for pre-paid scheduled check-outs.
