About One Shot Retrievers

Retriever and obedience training in Frankston

One Shot Retrievers is a Frankston training kennel run by Grant and Alex Huff, who have a combined 35 years of experience training dogs to an advanced level for AKC hunt tests, duck hunting and obedience. Both grew up in East Texas, and they do all of the training themselves from start to finish, then spend time teaching owners how to fairly correct and handle their dogs at home.

Programs

All Breed Basic Obedience is an on-lead program built on positive reinforcement and consistent training. All Breed Advanced Obedience is a six-week course for off-leash control, ending with a collar-conditioned dog that performs here, heel, sit, stay and kennel. A 2-week Puppy Imprinting Program serves pups 12-16 weeks, and Puppy Head Start introduces 4-6 month pups to water, birds and gunfire. Basic Gun Dog is a 4-month program covering obedience, collar conditioning, force fetch and steadiness to shot; Advanced Gun Dog adds blind retrieves; an AKC Field Trial program takes dogs from field-trial pedigrees. One-on-one sessions, boarding and an annual August snake avoidance clinic round it out. Pricing is quoted on request.
