About John Walton School For Dogs – Dog Trainer in Sarasota, FL
Love-and-praise training in Sarasota
John Walton's Dog Training is a Sarasota business that says it has been in business since 1979, owned by trainer John Walton, who is credited with more than 35 years in dog training. He started at the National Institute of Dog Training with Matthew Margolis, worked for the Hollywood Dog Training School under Richard Carl, and spent more than three years training dogs for film and TV with Universal and Paramount Studios alongside Bobby Weatherwax, trainer of Lassie. He also held a license as a sentry and obedience instructor.
Method
John's motto is "encouraging obedience through love & affection." He trains with love, praise and positive reinforcement, and group classes use no treats, just love and praise. He believes most dogs want a job and want to please their owners.
Classes
Group classes of 10 to 12 owners and their dogs meet for 90 minutes once a week for seven weeks, covering heel, sit, stay, down, come, leave it and stand, plus nuisance problems and socialization. The course ladder runs from Puppy Kindergarten (6 to 12 weeks) and Basic Obedience, the prerequisite for everything else, through Intermediate, Advanced off-leash training for dogs 8 months and older, K-9 College and Maintenance training. Private sessions take place in the owner's home. Satisfaction is guaranteed for basic and advanced obedience.
Contact
Training is local to the Sarasota and Bradenton area. Call 941-524-2441 for a free consultation.
