Group classes in Lakeland
DogSense Obedience, Inc. is a Lakeland training school that has been in business in the area for over 30 years. It is solely owned by Debbi Snyder, a lifelong Lakeland resident who began training in 1965. Debbi has earned 50+ titles in dog sports, including an Obedience Trial Championship, a conformation championship and an AKC Trick Dog Nationals win in 2020. She has trained service dogs and was a volunteer evaluator for Therapy Dogs International.
Programs
Seven-week group classes run on weekday mornings and evenings and some Saturdays. Level 1 Basic Obedience covers housebreaking, leash walking, recall, place, sit, down and stay, and curbing jumping, barking and chewing, and it opens with an owners-only meeting. Level 2 builds on it, and Level 3 is the Canine Good Citizen class with the AKC test at the end. There are also trick dog classes, AKC Rally and an agility equipment introduction. Day School for puppies ($750) pairs two weeks of weekday drop-off training with two private lessons and a Level 1 class. Private lessons handle fear, stress and aggression. Day Care ($25 a day) is open to current and past students.
