About Ruff K9

Boarding, daycare and training on one property

Ruff K9 publishes the line "Your dog is more than just a number with us." alongside three services – boarding, daycare and training – on 616-915-4946.

Training method

The site states: "We use the four quadrants of dog training to help build wanted behaviors, while removing unwanted behaviors," and adds "We've been training dogs for over ten years. We've sat through seminars, worked every dog we could get our hands on, and have built an AMAZING program." It rejects fixed curricula: "Our training program is not a cookie cutter program. We don't believe every dog is the same. We build an individual program for each dog that enters our training program."

Programs and published prices

One-on-one training is "$100 / per session," delivered "in the convenience of your own home – dedicated to whatever issues you're having." Board and train is offered in two lengths: "Two Week Board and Train – Building the foundation of training – (5 months and older): $2200" and "Four Week Board and Train – Building the foundation of training. Teaching basic obedience AND Advanced Obedience – (5 months and older): $3400."

The Walking Without Issues program

A week-long leash-focused program is published for "dogs who are struggling to walk on a leash properly," run Monday to Friday with the dog staying on the property. It ends with "a take home session that shows you how to continue these learned skills with your dog," and includes "a training collar that the trainer deems necessary, and continued communication with your trainer even AFTER the training is completed: $1000."

Coming later

Group classes are listed as not yet running: "Group Classes will be coming soon. Please keep an eye on our schedule and social media for more updates on this."

Scope of behavior work

The site claims broad experience: "From basic obedience to aggression, we've seen and worked them all."
