About K9 Guide Dog Training

A credentialed team with deep experience

K9 Guide Dog Training is one of the more credential-forward listings in the area. The training team is named openly: Collin, Yana, and Jimmie, with lead trainer Collin Young carrying an unusually broad stack of certifications including IACP Professional, APDT Professional, NePoPo certified, AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, plus CPR and First Aid. The site claims over 30 years of combined experience, which is a strong signal for owners weighing whom to trust with a serious behavior case.

Board-and-train plus real-world generalization

The core offering is a board-and-train program on a 4-acre property in Bath that the site says addresses all behavioral issues and teaches reliable obedience. Around that, they run in-home training, private sessions, puppy programs, scent work, off-leash training, and behavior modification, and they include AKC CGC certification. A nice retention touch: free group classes for alumni and ongoing field trips to real-world locations, which helps dogs generalize beyond the training property.

The philosophy is described as "positive, structured lessons" built on "trust and mutual respect." That structured-plus-positive framing, combined with the NePoPo credential, places this on the balanced end of the spectrum rather than purely force-free. The site does not publish pricing or program lengths, so contact them directly for board-and-train cost and duration.

What they can help with

Agility & Sport
Agility training: handling, obstacles and confidence-building.
Calming a dog that barks or lunges at other dogs or people while on leash.
Behavior modification for unwanted or problem habits.

I don’t even know where to begin…every experience we have had with K9 guide just gets better and better. We experienced exemplary communication with Yana and Jimmie from the start. Both of them made it a point to fully explain everything – exactly how training would go, pricing, and everything to expect after our puppy came home. We knew just what was happening at every turn.

My husband and I decided on the four week board and train for our energetic and daring Doberman puppy. Jimmie and Collin did such amazing work with her…it was truly a 180. We went from having an escape artist who loved to destroy our carpet, steal food from the table, and knock our kids down, to a perfect family pet that is excited to follow the rules and that our children can’t wait to play with every day.

I was nervous about having her come home at first because it was daunting not being sure if we could replicate what they do, but the at-home training sessions with Collin for both my husband and I, as well as our kids has made it so easy to truly understand all of the nuances of utilizing the training. Collin has been so great to work with. He’s understanding and realistic and took the time to teach the kids the best way to play with her.

It’s been an absolute lifesaver working with the entire team at K9 and I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you all so much for everything and for taking such good care of Pom Pom and us!

Collin and k9 guide are amazing!! I have seen a complete 180 in my dachshund, Elmer. He was incredibly reactive, to a point where it was difficult to even take him outside in the yard. But with Collin’s help I was able help prevent his reactivity and even take him to Lowe’s for a training session. Collin not only helped me help Elmer, but gave me to tools and the knowledge for continued success. K9 guide has truly allowed me to better bond with my dog. Thank you all!!

I recently enrolled my dog, Tito, in K9 Guide's Board and Train program, and the experience has been fantastic. Owner Yana, along with trainers Jimmie and Collin, provides an exceptional training program.

From the first session, Jimmie’s calm demeanor and Collin’s engaging style created the perfect environment for Tito. They used positive reinforcement techniques that quickly improved Tito’s behavior. Each session was tailored to Tito’s needs, making the training both effective and enjoyable.

Yana, Jimmie, and Collin provided us with valuable tips for continuing training at home, which has made a huge difference.

Thanks to K9 Guide Training Services, Tito is now more obedient and confident. I highly recommend their training services for anyone looking to improve their dog’s behavior.

Cannot say enough good things about K9 Guide Dog Training. We sent our GSP to the Board & Train program and it was priceless. First, our puppy loves Yana, Jimmie and Collin. Second, they did an outstanding job setting a foundation for our dog – but more importantly trained us on how to be better dog owners. Our high energy bird dog is happy, healthy, well adjusted and most importantly trustworthy out in public. It doesn’t matter if we are at Home Depot, the pet store or the CVNP our pup is leash free and responsive to anything we ask of her – even if a bird goes flying by at eye level. We’ve recommend them to many friends that have gotten puppies, attended almost every alumni event and even started working our dog through their scent work program.

10 out of 10. Would recommend.

If you are looking for people who love your dog like you do, these are your trainers! Kobe spent 4 weeks at board and train and even though we missed him terribly, he came back calmer and confident in what he learned. Yana, Collin, and Jimmie get to know your pup and work to bring out the best in them. We got updates and pictures throughout the training and really liked the follow up home training sessions once Kobe came home. It was probably harder to train us than it was Kobe! The Alumni Classes are great for refreshing and extending the training- and Kobe LOVES to see his trainers at the events. I recommend K9 Guide Dog Training without reservation.
