About A Very Gem K9

Training, retail and grooming under one roof

A Very Gem K9 is at 1217 Springdale St in Mount Horeb and combines four things: "Positive reinforcement Dog Training," pet supplies and retail, grooming with a self dog washing station, and pet sitting. Its slogan is "Finding the diamond in every ruff."

How training works here

The training pitch is written in the first person and is about communication rather than a program list: "I praise, guide, and work at the dogs pace to instill trust and confidence in both owners and their dogs, teach you two how to communicate and set everyone up for success!" The stated route in is a form rather than a phone call – "Please fill out the 'training request form' to begin your training journey!" – and the site notes a travel charge on top of the session: "Additional .50 cents per mile (round trip) on all travel charges," which implies the trainer will come to you.

The trainer

The about section names her and her training: "Hello! I'm Amber, CDTK – CPCN, the owner and trainer at A Very Gem K9! I gained my certificate in dog training knowledge through CATCH Canine Trainers Academy where I learned valuable knowledge about how dogs learn and what really makes them tick." Her method is stated explicitly: "My training decisions are guided by LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) and I use positive reinforcement in order to set dogs up for success."

Where the interest came from

The page credits a rescue Rottweiler named Remi, adopted when the owner was fifteen and found abandoned on the side of the road. The page says Remi "was nervous with strangers, barked, lunged, jumped fences, struggled with major food aggression, wrestled with separation anxiety, and more," and that "Through management and behavior modification, Remi lived a long and fulfilling life by my side." It continues: "I have been fostering dogs since 2021 and I have helped place more than 80 dogs into appropriate homes. I became so passionate about rescue dogs – I helped cofound a rescue, Be My FurEvers!" She describes being drawn to "the 'problem child', especially the ones who needed a bit more guidance or who were simply misunderstood."

What to ask

Session lengths, package structures and training prices are worth asking about when submitting the training request form.
