About Stoic Canine, LLC

Board and train plus day training from a rural base

Stoic Canine LLC works by appointment out of Mount Horeb, WI and describes itself as a "Small Facility, Big Results" operation offering "structured, individualized training and boarding designed to produce reliable results and a happier, more confident dog." The site lists the problems it takes on: "Jumping and over-excitement, Crate training challenges, House manners for visitors, Reactivity or leash reactivity on walks, Leash pulling and loose-leash walking, Comprehensive training guidance for owners."

The two formats

Under "What we do," two programs are named. Overnight Board & Train has "Multiple options available. Longer programs deliver deeper, more reliable behavior change." Day-Training is a weekly drop-off: "Drop your dog off once per week for 6 weeks. Turnover/lesson each week with the owner at pickup to keep you informed." The site's own menu also carries Dog Boarding and In Home Dog Training pages, and lists Paoli, New Glarus, Belleville, Verona and Middleton as cities served.

How it starts, and the selling points

Consultations are free and can be in-home or by video – "Free, In-home or Video Consultations" and "Let us help you decide if this is a good fit by meeting you and your dog in person, and review our variety of services to create a custom training program." The site markets on affordability, breadth and follow-through: "We offer competative pricing keeping budgets in mind, but firm on our outcome"; "We Train All Breeds, All Sizes, All Temperaments"; "Small-scale, individualized training: fewer dogs, tailored programs, measurable results"; and "Ongoing support and follow-up ensure lasting success beyond the initial training program." Driving distances from the facility are published – 26 miles from downtown Madison, 20 from Middleton, 9 from Mount Horeb and 10 from New Glarus.

Who runs it

The about page says: "Jared founded Stoic Canine LLC in 2020, following a distinguished seven-year career as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Military Policeman." It adds that "Jared's unique training philosophy emphasizes teamwork between Jared and the owner, as this is often an overlooked topic but the most important," and that "Every aspect of his training process is conducted with complete transparency."
