About AgLand Retrievers Professional Dog Training

Retriever training in Cottonwood

AgLand Retrievers is a professional retriever training business in Cottonwood, founded in 2020 by Adam Tupman, whose motto is training dogs to succeed from the marshes to the AgLand. It works with owners who want a steady hunting partner and with those whose dogs chase ribbons in hunt tests. Adam is credited with over 4 years of preparing clients' dogs for hunt tests and field trials, and his own black labs, Dixie and Rip, compete in field trials every year.

Method

The program holds that every dog learns at its own pace and that more pressure cannot make a dog learn faster. Training is set up so each dog succeeds and advances step by step, treated with respect and built up in confidence by using attrition rather than more pressure.

Programs

The Gun Dog Program lasts a minimum of 3 months and covers formal obedience, collar conditioning and an introduction to birds, aiming for a dog steady in the blind that delivers to hand. The Advanced Training Program, also a minimum of 3 months, covers advanced marking concepts, whistle work and 3 handed casting for field and hunt test performance.

What owners say

Steven wrote that Adam built "a unique training program personalized for my dog" and kept him informed with messages and videos.
