AHSD Canine Services, also known as Almost Home Speak Dog, is a family-owned dog care business at 826 40th Avenue in Bettendorf, Iowa, where training, boarding, day camp and grooming are now unified in one facility. It has been part of the Quad Cities pet care scene since 2010 under a few different names. The founders bought Almost Home from its previous owner, their former boss, and later combined its services with their own.

Approach

The team focuses on "enrichment, education and relationship-based care," supporting the bond between owner and dog. Training is pitched as "etiquette school for dogs," in a supportive environment that helps each dog reach its full potential, and the staff get to know each dog's needs and personality before any service.

Co-owners are Jana Baumbach, who is also lead trainer and holds the CPDT-KA credential, Ron Baumbach and Katie Salisbury, with a trainer and a training apprentice on staff. Alongside training, the facility runs an enrichment-based day camp with group play, puzzles and walks, boarding and full grooming.
