Altamaha Canine Consulting runs a training facility at Screven, in Wayne County, north west of Brunswick. The program list on their own site is unusually wide for a coastal Georgia operation: obedience and advanced obedience, retriever and bird dog work, water sports, service dog training, specialty work and private lessons, with dock diving, agility and behavior work also named on the home page. Training is sold as structured programs rather than drop-in classes, and there is a published registration and liability step before a dog starts.

Method

The site's stated position is that the program bends to the dog: "train the dog not the program, each dog is different and what works for one may not work for the other." The About page describes a start in K-9 search and rescue, a working internship and instructor certification with US K-9 Academy, detection work, and a later move into upland game and waterfowl retriever competition – which is where the bird dog and retriever tracks come from.

Setting and scope

The business also breeds, and says its puppies are whelped and weaned inside the training facility so they get daily stimulation and socialization from the start. Contact is by phone, a text-only second line, or the form on the site. Day play and boarding are handled by The Pack Canine Studio on St Simons Island, which the studio's own site names as a sister company.
