About Altamira Labradors and Canine Academy

Breeder and training academy

Altamira Labradors and Canine Academy is an AKC-registered Labrador Retriever breeder and canine training academy in Brooksville (34602). Its homepage cites 15+ years of experience, 3 training programs and 300+ dogs trained, and it pairs breeding with structured, science-based training to build trust and confidence.

Early development

Altamira believes the first twelve weeks shape a puppy's life. Each puppy gets neurological stimulation from the first week, an individual temperament assessment, structured socialization with new people, dogs and environments, and foundational obedience before going home. The founder describes 12 years working alongside Dorothy Cavalle of StoneHaven Labradors and helping raise and train close to 300 puppies. Breeding and training happen under the same roof.

Training

Altamira offers continued training programs, including a Board and Train option for young puppies that picks up where the litter program left off, and professional training for dogs already in a home. Labrador puppies from champion bloodlines, AKC registered and DNA tested, are available occasionally.

What to ask

Ask for the details and costs of each of the three training programs, and whether board and train is open to dogs from other breeders.
