Retriever training near Britton

FR Labs is a Labrador breeding and retriever training kennel run by Casey and Jessica in the Britton area, and it is moving to a new kennel at 44112 122nd St in Eden. The couple trained all of their own dogs, began taking client dogs in 2019, and Casey began training full-time in June 2021. They have run dogs in HRC and AKC competitions for over 10 years.

Training programs

The Basic Program, for dogs about 6-8 months old, takes a minimum of four months and moves from obedience to conditioned retrieves, force fetch, collar conditioning and single marks. The Seasoned Dog Program adds 3-6 months of handling on blinds and multiple marks, and the Finished Dog Program builds more consistency, control and distance. Each winter the kennel takes a 2-4 month trip south for water work. Before a dog goes home, owners get a one-to-one handlers clinic. Dogs stay in climate-controlled 5 ft x 5 ft runs.

Results

The couple's own dogs have earned a Grand Hunting Retriever Champion title, two Master National passes, six Hunting Retriever Champion titles and five Master Hunters, among other titles.
