About Asheville Dog Academy

Asheville Dog Academy trains from a by-appointment facility at 5046 Boylston Highway in Mills River and markets across the Asheville area. Its own framing is results in the places the dog actually lives: "Your dog doesn't live in a training room", and the training "focuses on helping dogs and their owners succeed where it matters most – at home, on walks, around guests, in public places".

The flagship program

The published headline program is the Ultimate Success Obedience Program, an eleven-session series running once a week for eleven weeks, for dogs older than six months with no major behavioral issues. The site publishes the curriculum skill by skill: a clear communication system of good, no and free; coming when called so the dog can be enjoyed off leash; down and stay for extended settling in public; and loose leash walking with an automatic sit.

Beyond obedience

The academy also publishes work on reactivity and more serious behavioral challenges alongside puppy programs, and it runs AKC Canine Good Citizen testing, explaining the ten-step test and the CGC title on its own pages.

Setting

The facility is open daily 9am to 6pm by appointment only. The site names its trainers as Chris and Violet in client testimonials and describes a background that includes national and world championship titles in dog sport.
