Bayou Pawsitivity is a Lake Charles dog training business run by Darla and TJ Collins, a mother-and-son team. Its trainers use positive reinforcement, and the business offers board-and-train stays, private in-home training, one-on-one out-and-about sessions in real-world places and group classes.
Group classes
Five-week classes meet at Black Bayou Boarding Downtown, 500 Broad Street, Lake Charles, and cost $155. Level I Puppy is for puppies 10 weeks to 5 months and covers potty training, puppy biting, chewing and kennel training; Level I Beginner is for dogs 6 months and older; Level II builds on Level I and prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
Board and train
Board-and-train stays last two, three or four weeks and cover sit, down, stay and leash walking along with jumping, biting and chewing; stays of three or four weeks include at least four outings in public settings. Dogs displaying aggressive behavior are not accepted for board and train.
