Science-based training in Tampa

Beyond the Dog has its Tampa Bay headquarters at 1529 W. North A St., Suite 24, Tampa, and combines behavioral science with in-home training. It is led by co-founders Dr. Echterling-Savage, a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, and Sean Savage, a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant. The company cites over 20 years of experience across six cities and says its team draws on psychology, behavioral science, zoology and doctoral-level research when designing programs.

Programs

All training is private and one-on-one, customized to the dog's behavior, goals and environment, and it happens where life happens: at home, in local parks, shops or restaurants, such as loose-leash walking at the Tampa Riverwalk. Topics include obedience, reactivity, resource guarding, fearful dogs, touch sensitivity, cat chasing, separation anxiety and a parallel set of puppy programs. Board and Train programs have dogs stay at the co-founders' home and train directly with them, and virtual sessions are offered nationwide.

Area and hours

The service area covers Tampa, St Petersburg, Clearwater, Riverview and Brandon. Hours are Monday to Friday 6:30am to 7:00pm and Saturday to Sunday 7:00am to 12:00pm.
