About Both Ends of the Leash

About Both Ends of the Leash

Both Ends of the Leash trades on the line "Training You to Train Your Dog", and the name is the

argument: "we believe that what happens at your end of the leash is responsible for what happens at

your dog's end of the leash." The trainer is referred to throughout as Doug.

Approach

"Dog training is more than just tricks. Having a dog that can fetch and rollover is great, but there's

a lot more that goes into having a well-behaved dog than being able to sit and stay."

The work is done in the home: "At Both Ends of the Leash, we do house calls, so we can evaluate your

dog's behaviors where they occur and teach you the skills needed to change those behaviors."

"Doug brings an owner-centered approach to dog training, with a focus on teaching you how your dog

thinks and communicates. When you and your dog communicate effectively you can tell your dog how you

want them to behave, and your dog can know what you expect."

Services

The training page is headed "Dog Training That Comes to You!" and lists five entries, each as its own

button: **Introduction to Home: FREE**, **Puppy Training**, **Foundational Obedience**, **1 Hour

Session** and **Behavior Problems**. The first of those is published as free.

What clients say

Deborah G: "Doug gets dogs! He has an incredible ability to connect with dogs, which is why I believe

his methods are so effective. Not only does he understand how dogs think and learn, but he also has a

natural way of inspiring them to want to work with him". Barbara R: "What is even better is Doug oh so

gently helps the masters understand what needs to be done. Doug is so patient with the dogs and its

owners".

Blog

The site publishes articles, most recently "Dogs On the Loose" (March 12, 2026), with earlier pieces on

"Food Rewards, Good or Bad?", "Dog Scams", "World Chocolate Day" and "Fireworks Season".
