About Callas Wanderlust LLC

Callas Wanderlust publishes its town in its own page header: "Callas Wanderlust, LLC. Dog Training and Boarding Services in Durham, NC", with services available in Durham and surrounding areas. It is a board-and-train business rather than a lesson-based one, and the programs are all residential.

Board and Train

The core program runs a minimum of three weeks and can run longer depending on the dog. Its stated aim is helping dogs learn to be polite members of society, teaching stable obedience commands using balanced methods. What distinguishes it from a kennel-based program is where the work happens: the business says it deliberately builds in "lots of nature, socialization, and real life scenarios", and each program is tailored to the areas of training the owner asks for.

Board and Refresh

A shorter return program is offered to dogs that have already completed training here or with another balanced trainer – regular boarding plus daily obedience work to touch up a dog whose training has slipped.

Puppy Socialization Program

A two-week puppy program covers house manners, potty training and crate training, introduces the concepts behind obedience commands, and puts puppies with what the business calls sweet, balanced adult dogs for socialization. It is presented as a stepping stone toward obedience training later rather than as a finished course.

Boarding

Ordinary boarding is offered as an alternative to a kennel, on the argument that a dog boarding with a trainer gets adventure, socialization and structure rather than a run.

The trainer

Sonja Pearson-Moyers grew up on a horse farm riding and training horses, and taught riding and trained horses for years before moving to dogs. The site says she mentored under a dog trainer named Peggy Davis, volunteered at local shelters, and holds a degree in Animal Care and Management with certificates in Animal Handling and Animal Control. She began training dogs professionally in 2016 and started this business after that.
