About Canine Coach Academy
What they offer
Canine Coach Academy is run by a trainer with more than 20 years of work with dogs, including years running doggie daycares and rehabilitating fearful and aggressive rescue and foster dogs. Its stated aim is to keep dogs out of shelters by teaching owners to communicate clearly with their dogs through a balance of love and leadership.
Programs
Private lessons take place at its training studio or in the owner's home and cover clear communication, impulse control, boundaries, leash manners and desensitization. The Solid Foundation programs are board-and-train stays of 7, 14, 21 or 28 days in the trainers' homes, followed by a long hand-off lesson with the owner; dogs learn place, sit, down, off, leave it, heel, public manners and recall, and the longer programs add on- and off-leash public manners. Adventure training sessions combine obedience with outdoor activities such as hiking.
Problems it takes on
The site lists jumping, mouthing, biting, chewing, excessive barking, separation anxiety, aggression and leash reactivity among the unwanted behaviors it works on, and says puppies can start socialization at 8 weeks.
