About Canines With a Cause
Service dogs for veterans
Canines With a Cause is a nonprofit based in Holladay whose mission is to unite veterans and rescued dogs to heal emotional and psychological wounds. Its Psychiatric Service Dog Program helps U.S. military veterans facing PTSD, TBI and MST train their own psychiatric service dogs. Veterans attend weekly classes and commit to 300 hours of training across 6 levels and 5 certification tests, and thanks to donor support the program is free for veterans.
Other programs
The organization runs the Paw Squad Foster Program with several fostering options, lists adoptable dogs, and offers QPR suicide prevention training on an as-needed basis for individuals and organizations. Its posts include practice for the AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen test and a feature with Harleigh Poulson, CPDT-KA. Canines With a Cause has been featured on ABC 4's "Acts of Kindness" and KUFR.
