Carolina Dog Training Club
Overview
About Carolina Dog Training Club
Carolina Dog Training Club is not a commercial trainer but a volunteer organization based in Greensboro. Its stated mission is improving the relationship between dogs and their families through obedience training, and it is explicit about the model: we teach you to train your dog.
How classes run
It is an AKC club, and it runs obedience sessions several times a year, each term starting on the first Tuesday of a quarter. Classes meet at Lewis Recreation Center on Forest Lawn Drive. All breeds and all mixed breeds are welcome. Proof of current vaccinations is required and a place is only held once payment is received – the club takes payment by mail to a Stonebrook Farms Court address.
What is on the schedule
The published term includes Puppy 2, Beginner 1 and Beginner 2, Beginner Scent Work, Continuing Scent Work and Rally. The club also holds AKC Obedience and Rally trials annually, and publishes a rescue dog discount.
Method
The club states that it believes in positive reinforcement and force-free training methods, and describes its approach as built on trust and respect.
Who it’s best for
Best for an owner who wants to learn to handle their own dog in a group, at club rather than commercial rates, and who can work to a fixed quarterly term.
